Fundraising projects

  1.  NEW VEHICLE FUNDAt present Net vir Pret has only the use of an old bakkie (small truck) for transport. As our work expands, we increasingly need to have a 16-seater mini-bus which can transport performers to events.

A mini-bus would also enable us to bring young people from the farms in to our centre in the village, so that they too can take part in the music, art, craft and pottery workshops.

To date we have raised R200 000 towards the R300 000 needed to purchase the mini-bus.

One of our important initiatives is to assist young people who have completed their schooling to progress to study at tertiary level. Although the state’s National Student Financial Aid Scheme is of tremendous help in covering costs, students are still required to meet initial registration costs. Together with this burden, in the absence of any public transport system, there is also the cost of travelling to the institution. At present we have four young men who have secured hostel accommodation but who are having to provide their own food. Our need is to create a Bursary Fund which can assist with these matters. Our target is R50 000 per annum.
